A husband and wife team, one house at a time

Jon and Niki Grant, in Abilene, Texas. “Renovating Abilene One House At A Time” is the line they work under, and it is also just the job.

Who we are

Hello! We are husband and wife team, Jon and Niki Grant, sharing our passion to update homes in our area, one house at a time. We love finding old homes and dreaming up all the possibilities for how we can make them better serve the families of today.

It's pretty simple. As we say, “Renovating Abilene One House At A Time,” is simply what we aim to do. So we're in the business of finding homes and buying homes. Once we find a home we know we'll love working with, we often make a cash offer, and then get to the fun part!

The fun part, house by house

  1. Walls come down

At Brentwood Ranch several walls had to go to open up the living space. At Elmwood the result was an open living and dining room.

  2. Floors replaced

And where the old wood floors are beautiful, as they were on Grand Avenue, they stay and the finish materials get a modern play around them.

  3. Appliances updated

New stainless steel appliances at High Meadows, a stainless range on the Brentwood Ranch kitchen wall, a farmhouse sink island at Grand Avenue.

  4. Accent walls and custom tile added

A wood plank accent wall in the Weavers kitchen, shiplap in the Mid-Century Farmhouse bathrooms, designer tile selections at Elmwood.

  5. Charm maintained

The solid wood front door at Green Acres is still the front door. Some things are worth the trouble of working around.

And anything else we can dream up that will make the home perfectly functional and cozy for modern day living. See every house on the projects page.

A neighbor, and a door

Brentwood

When we first walked into the Brentwood Ranch we saw all the potential it had. This rambling ranch home won the hearts of a neighbor who ended up purchasing it once it was finished, and it was such a fun experience to work with the future homeowner during the renovation. That is the same idea behind renovating a house for you to buy.

Green Acres

Green Acres had three different additions, and every one of them had to be torn down. Niki wrote about it on the blog: the demo was extensive, and the house was transformed into something to be proud of for a young and growing family. The cute front door, a gorgeous solid wood door with all the character, was saved.
